Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has admitted to feeling frustrated during his injury lay-off.
After a successful summer tour, Shaw was injured back in England during training, and is yet to feature for the Red Devils this season.
With the club low on available defenders, Shaw’s return to fitness is a timely boost for Louis van Gaal this weekend.
“The injury got me down a little bit as I’ve never been injured for so long before, I was a bit annoyed, but I’ve been back in training now for a couple of weeks.
“I’m back up now, raring to go and hoping to stay injury-free and fit for the rest of the season.”
Shaw is likely to go straight into the side to face West Ham this weekend, a side against which he has had little joy in his career so far in terms of results.
| Team | Vs | Goals conceded per game | Ball Recoveries per game | Points per game | Appearances | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Luke Shaw | Southampton | West Ham | 1.5 | 7 | 0 | 2 | 167 |
The two times Shaw faced the Hammers in the Premier League he landed up on the losing side, but he helped keep their goals conceded relatively low.
He performed well, averaging seven ball recoveries per game, in under two complete 90 minutes of football.
Certainly he is hoping for more luck this weekend, at a club where simply making his debut is no achievement, Shaw will be expected to play well, and win.
