The holding midfielder has been tasked with leading the Championship side following Sol Bamba’s departure.
Leeds United’s Liam Bridcutt
Liam Bridcutt has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that the pressure of being awarded the Leeds United captaincy should help bring the best out of him.
The 27-year-old was handed the armband in the wake of Sol Bamba’s departure shortly after the end of the transfer window.

With Garry Monk’s squad boasting plenty of youth, the former Sunderland man was arguably the perfect choice for the role, given the consistency he showed during his loan at Elland Road last season and the amount of experience he has in the Championship.
And he explained that while there is added pressure on his shoulders now, he expects to thrive as a leader.

“It puts a little bit more pressure on me but that’s something I like,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“I’ve always been a player that’s thrived under pressure and I think that’s the way to get the best out of me.”
During his loan spell, Bridcutt was the calm head that provided the often-shaky defence with support, both in terms of winning the ball back and distributing a pass that would relieve some of the pressure.

And that calmness should boost his chances of proving a successful captain as his attitude on the pitch should rub off on his teammates and give them the confidence to play their natural game, which – in a talented, but often nervous-looking, Leeds side – may be exactly what they need to get their season properly off and running.
