Wolverhampton Wanderers have been given new hope of signings coveted Portugal defender Joao Cancelo.
According to the likes of The Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers want the right-back – who can also play as a winger – who is valued at £35 million.
The Portugal defender, 24, spent last season on loan from Valencia at Inter Milan in Serie A helping the club qualify for the Champions League.
Cancelo worked closely with Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo when the pair were together at Valencia and the Mail says the player credits the his old boss with playing a major part in his development.
Newly-promoted Wolves were hoping to take advantage of their links to Jorge Mendes after reports claimed Cancelo had asked the super agent to ‘get the wheels in motion’ – as reported by The Birmingham Mail.
But reports from Italy last week claimed Cancelo had rejected the move to Wolves with European giants Juventus interested.
However there could be new hope for Nuno after a new report from Sky Sports Italia claimed Cancelo’s expected move to Juve as stalled.
Sky Sports Italia says Juventus have failed to agree terms with Valencia for Cancelo but remain optimistic they can get the full-back.
Valencia wanted £35 million from Inter Milan after his loan spell and are said to be refusing to budge.
And Sky Sports Italia claim that Juve want to sell players such as Rolando Mandragora, Stefano Sturaro and Alberto Cerri first before committing to the Cancelo deal, opening the door for other suitors such as Wolves.
