New Everton scout Pavel Kucherov has told Sport Express in Russia that he felt Spartak Moscow desperately missed winger Quincy Promes against Liverpool last week.

Spartak drew 1-1 with Liverpool in their Champions League group stage clash, with Fernando’s free kick being cancelled out by Philippe Coutinho’s equaliser.

Massimo Carrera’s side gave Liverpool a real fight in Moscow, and the Italian may have been left wondering what might have been, had his star player Quincy Promes been fit to play.

The Dutch winger is vital to Spartak, and even attracted interest from Liverpool earlier this year, as reported by The Mirror, having starred in Russia since his 2014 move from Twente.

Now, Everton’s new scout Pavel Kucherov – who has left Arsenal for a move to Goodison Park – has told Sport Express that he felt Spartak missed Promes against Liverpool, raving about the wide man’s ability.

“For Spartak, a serious drawback was the lack of Promes,” said Kucherov, who scouted the game. “Quincy gives dynamism and aggression to the attack, he clings on to the ball,” he added.

Kucherov clearly rates Promes, and whilst Liverpool have been tracking him in 2017, Everton should be making him one of their top targets during the January transfer window.

Promes, 25, should be a familiar name to manager Ronald Koeman having starred in their native Netherlands, whilst he also has four goals in 23 caps for his country, with Koeman surely aware of just what an impact Promes could make.

With 52 goals in 103 games for Spartak, Promes has been nothing short of a goal machine for Spartak despite being a winger, and Everton’s lack of goals means a player like Promes – who has nine goals in 14 games this term – could be hugely valuable.

Add in that Promes possesses the pace out wide that Everton so desperately lack, as well as Kucherov’s glowing comments about him, and Promes is emerging as an ideal target for Everton – and they should make sure that he ends up in the blue half of Merseyside, rather than the red half.
