New England Revolution will be without Luis Caicedo for the remainder of the 2020 season, after the midfielder underwent knee surgery.
Caicedo had successful surgery to repair the damaged meniscus in his right knee earlier in the year. As a result, according to the Revolution’s official MLS website, the combative midfielder will be out for the entire 2020 season.
The 24-year-old has now been placed on the season-ending injury list, with an expected absence of at least nine months.
The Colombian usually features regularly for the Revs, notching more than 60 appearances for the Eastern Conference club since his debut in 2018.
Prior to signing with New England Revolution, Caicedo began his professional career with Sporting CP’s B team in Portugal. He then spent three seasons with Colombian side Cortuluá before arriving at Gillette Stadium.
The length of Caicedo’s lay-off will be a blow to Revs head coach and sporting director, Bruce Arena.
As they prepare for the upcoming MLS Orlando tournament, New England remain winless in the East, losing their 2020 season opener at Montreal Impact followed by a tie against Chicago Fire.
