Sarri pushing Lazio to rival Villarreal interest for Lo Celso of Tottenham
Lazio are now the latest team to show an interest in signing Giovani Lo Celso of Tottenham Hotspur with the Argentine facing an uncertain future in north London. That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who note Maurizio Sarri is pushing his Serie A side to agree a transfer.

Sarri is determined to sign a creative midfielder, and views Lo Celso as a dream target with Spurs willing sellers. Fabio Paratici is also prepared to consider loan approaches, so long as they carry an obligation to purchase the 26-year-old at the close of the 2022/23 campaign.

Tottenham may even listen to loan approaches that only carry an option to buy the 39-cap Argentina international. But Lazio would have to contend with rival interest from Villarreal, where Lo Celso spent the second portion of last season, as well as Serie A rivals Fiorentina.
Lotito weighing up if Serie A side can rival Villarreal, Fiorentina this summer
Napoli are currently cooling their interest, whilst Fiorentina progress theirs. Owner Rocco Commisso is to advance their approach on Thursday, while Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Stadio Artemio Franchi side will offer €2m (£1.5m) for his loan, plus a €20m (£17m) option.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito is carefully assessing whether or not his Stadio Olimpico side can rival Fiorentina’s offer for Lo Celso, plus Villarreal’s interest in the Tottenham outcast. Fabrizio Romano notes the La Liga outfit are pushing to finalise a deal ‘as soon as possible’.
Much will depend on how much pressure Sarri puts on Lotito to find the funds required to sign Lo Celso. He appreciates the Argentine’s speed and willingness to sacrifice himself for the good of the team. Even if that has not always been since leaving Real Betis for £27m.
