Tottenham Hotspur could welcome a bidding war for Steven Bergwijn in January, as Lazio have now entered the transfer race for the Dutch winger, according to TuttoMercatoWEB.
Maurizio Sarri’s Biancocelesti have turned their attention toward north London as the Serie A side seek mid-season reinforcements. They clinched a 3-1 win over Genoa on Friday, but the result only moved the Stadio Olimpico natives into eight-place.
Lazio still trail fourth-place Napoli by eight-points, now having also played one game more. Yet Europa League or Conference League football may be attainable, with Fiorentina in fifth only two-points ahead. Sixth-place Roma and seventh Juventus are also on 28-points.

Lazio admire Bergwijn’s profile and what the Tottenham forward can offer under Sarri with a January transfer. They could also begin negotiations with Spurs within the next few days.
Tottenham could welcome Bergwijn bidding war
Bergwijn has put possible transfer suitors like Lazio on alert ahead of the January market as he has struggled to be essential at Tottenham since Antonio Conte’s arrival as head coach.
The 24-year-old has managed just seven Premier League appearances all season so far. He also only started three outings, all of which came under Nuno Espirito Santo in August.
Conte has only fielded Bergwijn for 13-minutes over four possible games, with two spent as an unused substitute. Jose Mourinho’s January 2020, £27m signing also failed to feature in Spurs’ Europa Conference League ties with Vitesse and Mura.

Conte ready to sell Mourinho’s signing, also wanted by Ajax
Conte is now ready to sell Bergwijn as early as the January transfer window, according to The Times. While ESPN reported last week that Ajax are exploring a possible winter swoop.
Ajax are examining the chances of Bergwijn leaving Tottenham in a mid-season transfer, in either a loan or permanent deal. But Lazio’s emerging interest could add another challenge.
Dutch journalist Mike Verweij claims, via Voetbal Zone, the £73k-a-week ace has indicated he really likes Ajax, however. Tottenham also contacted the Eredivisie side to explore their interest in a transfer for Bergwijn, with Ajax confirming they want to sign the Lazio target.
