New Chelsea signing Omari Kellyman has opened up on his move to West London from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

Aston Villa are in for a big summer with the Midlands club already set to lose Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz to Juventus.

The Midlands club are set to get Samuel Iling-Junior and Argentine midfielder Enzo Barrenchea in return for the sale of the former Manchester City midfielder.

Whilst Villa remain keen on making key additions this summer, they have waved goodbye to Kellyman, who has opened up on his decision to move from Villa Park to Stamford Bridge

Speaking to the club’s official website, Kellyman was full of praise for former manager Enzo Maresca, who had indeed lured a whole host of signings to Stamford Bridge.

Kellyman speaks out on Chelsea move

“It is fantastic to be standing here as a Chelsea player,” said Kellyman. “It’s a massive club with an amazing history, so it is great to join. It is a dream come true for sure. I’m buzzing to have put on the shirt and can’t wait to get started.”

Kellyman, capped twice for England Under-20s, joined Villa’s academy in 2022 after 10 years with Derby County.

The fee for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder could well rise to £19 million this summer with the add-ons that are understood to be included in the deal.

Villa and Chelsea complete another deal

The signing of Kellyman at Stamford Bridge is not the only one completed between Chelsea and Villa as the Villains completed the signing of left-back Ian Maatsen.

After spending the second half of last season on loan at the German club, I was expecting this season to be the Dutch defender.

After spending scouts at Burnley and indeed Chelsea, it is of little surprise to see the left-back heading for a move to the Champions League club.

It was Borussia Dortmund where Maatsen got most of his plaudits, the Dutchman played every minute of their seven knockout ties, finding the net against Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals, as the German side reached the showpiece final before losing 2-0 to Real Madrid at Wembley.
