Celtic snapped up younger Armstrong Okoflex from Arsenal.
Celtic endured a difficult end to the summer transfer window, as they lost striker Moussa Dembele to Lyon in a big-money sale.
The Bhoys did manage to bring in defender Filip Benkovic and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, but the window ultimately fell flat as Dembele and Stuart Armstrong were sold, whilst incomings were disappointing.
There was one more incoming though, as Celtic announced on the 1st of September that they have secured the signature of Arsenal talent Armstrong Okoflex on a three-year deal.
The 16-year-old had earned a strong reputation with the Gunners as a promising young talent, but having been allowed to leave this summer, Celtic moved in to snap him up.
A forward who can play anywhere along the front line, Okoflex already has his sights set on a place in the Celtic first team, and Bhoys fans will be tracking his progress closely.
Okoflex has already made on interesting change since his move to Celtic, as the Republic of Ireland Under-16 international – born in Dublin – appears to have made an international switch.
Okoflex turned out for England’s Under-17’s this weekend, featuring as a substitute in the 6-0 win over Norway Under-16’s on Friday night as he played the final 20 minutes.
Given that his change has still only come at youth level, he isn’t tied to any one nation yet, but his early switch to England may suggest that he sees his future with the Three Lions – and will hope his time with Celtic can help him chase international recognition.
