Cherries’ newest recruit Brad Smith is keen to make the most of his pre-season opportunities and stamp down a first team place at new club Bournemouth.
Smith progressed through the ranks at former club Liverpool, but after eight years he found his opportunities limited meaning the chance to compete for a first team spot on the south coast was too good to turn down.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Daily Echo, the Australia international is relishing the competition and fighting for a place with fellow full back Charlie Daniels:
“There are players in every position fighting all the time at every club,” he said.
“You’ve got to come in and fight for your spot. I know it’s not going to be easy but I’m here to work and learn under a great manager, and hopefully, get that spot
“I will just keep working hard and try to get as many minutes as i can. Hopefully, I can help the team stay in the Premier League and push on further up the table than last season.”
Eddie Howe’s preferred choice last campaign at full back was Charlie Daniels who was with Howe during the club’s promotion campaign to the Premier League and who will most likely be Smith’s main competitor.

Smith struggled to secure a first team spot and was eventually loaned out during 2014/15 season to League One side Swindon Town where he started seven games.
Manager Jurgen Klopp opted for Alberto Moreno, which limited the Australian’s playing time last term. He only made five appearances, including a red card at Swansea City, at the back end of the season when Liverpool were prioritising the Europa League.
