The defender joined Villa on a three-year deal from Leicester City on Tuesday,
New Aston Villa signing Ritchie de Laet has told the club’s official website that the major strengths in his play are his work ethic and his speed in going forward down the right flank.
De Laet became Villa’s seventh signing of the summer on Tuesday when he joined on a three-year deal from Premier League champions Leicester City.
The defender spent four years at the Foxes, helping them to first win promotion from the Championship in 2014 before being a sporadic part of their incredible title triumph last term.
He has now become the latest addition at Villa Park under Roberto di Matteo and is looking forward to getting started for his new club.
After vowing on Twitter to help the club get back to “where it belongs”, he went on to outline what his new supporters can expect to see from him as his major strengths.
He told the club’s official website: “Generally I am actually a loud guy and like to have fun in training, which you have to because I personally I think it’s the best job in the world and you have to enjoy it.
“On the pitch I am a hard-working defender who likes to bomb forward.
“One of my main strengths is my speed and I like to use that going forward. But I don’t forget that I am a defender first and foremost.”
Whilst all fans love to watch an attacking full-back bomb forward, Villa supporters will be hoping that De Laet also proves to be good enough defensively to prove an upgrade on Alan Hutton and Leandro Bacuna on the right side of defence.
De Laet could be in line to make his debut at Bristol City on Saturday.
