Arsenal still hope to sign Martin Odegaard again this summer, either on loan or permanently having impressed in recent weeks.

The Norwegian is on loan from Real Madrid, and fans are desperate to see him stick around having made a big impact since his January arrival.

However, a deal to get him back to the Emirates Stadium won’t be easy, and Edu is having to look into potential alternative targets.

The London Evening Standard report that Jesse Lingard has emerged as a real target for Arsenal should Odegaard leave, having been impressed with his displays at West Ham United.

Lingard joined the Hammers on loan from Manchester United in January, and has been utterly sensational with eight goals and three assists in nine appearances.

The 28-year-old may not have a future at United – that is yet to be decided. Yet Arsenal could offer him a stay in London if he becomes available this summer.

What’s interesting is that Lingard has poked fun at Arsenal in the past, branding the Emirates Stadium his ‘dancefloor’ having scored there in a January 2019 FA Cup tie.

Lingard’s comments didn’t go down well, with Mesut Ozil hitting back at him just a couple of months later – much to the delight of Arsenal fans.

Excelling for the Gunners may appease some fans, but poking fun at Arsenal’s home may leave some fans sceptical about signing him.
