New £21m Tottenham signing admits he is yet to speak to Antonio Conte

Destiny Udogie has admitted that he is yet to speak to Antonio Conte this season despite signing for Tottenham in the summer before returning to Udinese on loan for the season.

Speaking to La Repubblica, the 19-year-old right-back revealed that he is yet to have talk with his new manager for next year since returning to Udinese, with ESPN reporting that Tottenham signed the defender in the summer for a fee that could reach as much as £21m.

The teenage Italian youth international was picked up by Spurs this summer and has since returned to Serie A on loan to Udinese, where Udogie is enjoying quite the season with the Friulian side as they sit in the top-four having beaten the likes of AS Roma and Inter Milan.

Although Tuttosport have recently reported that Conte is excited to work with the Verona-born talent, it appears that the Italian is yet to make steps in creating a working relationship yet with his future right-back, with many expecting Udogie to become a starter for Spurs next season.

Indeed, whilst Udogie is yet to hear from Conte, the Udinese star is seemingly excited to get to work with Tottenham in 2023, with the defender lauding the quality of the Premier League and relishing the challenge of playing for a top side in the division next season.

Udogie said about returning to Tottenham next summer: “I still haven’t heard from Antonio Conte. The Premier League, however, doesn’t scare me. The game is fantastic, and I’ve always spoken English at home with my parents, who were born in Nigeria.”

Tottenham fans might have to wait a year to see Udogie in Spurs colours on the pitch, yet if the youngster’s form is anything to go by this season, supporters are in for one heck of a threat as the 19-year-old continues to get better with each passing game.

Whilst there’s always a chance that Conte might not be at Tottenham next season, there’s no denying that the Italian manager made the right decision in investing in a player like Udogie, who could soon replace the likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty in the Tottenham XI.
