The Toffees spurned a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to the Magpies in Saturday’s Premier League game at St James’ Park.

Everton were on course for victory at Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday but in the end, a troubling season for the Toffees faithful took another painful turn as the Magpies rallied to run out 3-2 winners.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring for Marco Silva’s side on 18 minutes with a glancing header from Lucas Digne’s pinpoint cross, while the second came in the 32nd minute as Martin Dubravka’s save from Andre Gomes was tapped home on the rebound by Richarlison.
Prior to that, there was controversy as Jordan Pickford’s 29th-minute lunge towards Salomon Rondon yielded no card from referee Lee Mason, although Newcastle did win a penalty which Matt Ritchie failed to put away.
Newcastle remained two goals down at half time but they mounded a superb comeback as Rondon pulled one back midway through the second half before Ayoze Perez struck twice in the last nine minutes to break Toffees hearts.
