The goalkeeping legend had high praise for the French goalkeeper.

Goalkeeping legend Neville Southall has called Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris easily the best stopper in the Premier League.

The Spurs goalie has long been heralded as one of the best in the Premier League, but has plenty of competition to be named the best.

Southall however feels that the Spurs goalie is head and shoulders above the rest of the Premier League. He told Goal.com that he rates Lloris as better than David De Gea, Thibaut Courtois and Jack Butland:

“I think Lloris is by far the best one – by far.

“Courtois at Chelsea is up there. Butland, when fit, is decent. The rest of them? De Gea is the next one. Definitely Lloris is top, I can’t see past him. Jack Butland, De Gea, Courtois, those are the four.”

There is no doubt that the opinion of Southall is to be respected when it comes to goalkeeping. The Welshman was considered the best goalkeeper in the world at one point during his 17-year career at Everton.

Lloris has no doubt become a pivotal member of the Spurs side and is also their captain.

His leadership qualities have never been in doubt at Spurs and his performances lately have been saving Spurs from what could have been some humiliating results based on their recent displays.

Hopefully for Spurs Lloris can continue to shine at White Hart Lane.
