The loss means that the Toffees will not be able to progress further in the Europa League this season.
Everton legend Southall was following the match, and the former goalkeeper has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the final result.
The 59-year-old believes that the Merseyside outfit will not get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Southall has also predicted that Everton will sign at least one striker in the January transfer window.
Everton were never going to win the Europa League this season, and their exit from the competition could help the team focus more on the Premier League.
The Toffees are in the bottom three at the moment, meaning that they have to pick up all three points against Watford this weekend.
