The former goalkeeper believes the striker will only leave Everton for another Premier League club.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku celebrates scoring their first goal
Everton legend Neville Southall has told Goal that he cannot see Romelu Lukaku moving to a club outside of the Premier League.
The Belgian forward was in superb form for the Blues last season, with 25 goals in all competitions to his name.
He was subsequently linked with a move away from the club, with both him and his agent openly discussing his desire for Champions League football.
A transfer did not materialise, though, and has since started this season in impressive form with seven league goals in 11 league games so far.
Those displays have once again sparked talk of a move away from Goodison Park, perhaps to one of the big sides in Europe, such as Barcelona or Real Madrid.
However, Southall cannot see that happening and thinks Lukaku would only end up at another Premier League team.
“Football is football – one week he is going, the next he’s not,” he told Goal.
“Overall he has stayed and somebody is going to have to put their hand in their pocket if they want him. There have been bids that have been rejected for him, but there haven’t been millions of them.
“Would he get in at Barcelona? I’m not sure. I don’t think so. Would he get in at Madrid? I don’t think so. For me, he can only go to another Premier League team.”

For now, Everton will simply be focused on helping Lukaku to maintain his current strong form.
The Blues have only managed to score 15 goals in the league this season, seven of which have been scored by Lukaku.
The striker is very much key to their hopes and keeping him in his current vein of form for as long as possible will be crucial to the Toffees enjoying a good first year under Ronald Koeman.
