Gary Neville said during commentary of Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Manchester United on Sky Sports, Thiago was a “joy to watch” as the Reds eased past Ralf Rangnick’s men. He said it after a long ball from Thiago.

Jurgen Klopp’s side kept up their pressure on Manchester City with a 3-0 win over United’s local rivals – thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and a brace from Mo Salah, taking his tally to 30 goals for the campaign.

Liverpool took the lead when Salah was freed on the right, squaring to Diaz to tap home. Sadio Mane created the second, chipping to Salah who finished well. It was Mane’s turn next, slotting a left-footed effort in first time.

There was time for a fourth, Diogo Jota coming on to feed Salah who chipped David De Gea, with a deflection helping it on its way. But it was Thiago that earned praise from Neville, after a pass to Salah on 30 minutes.

“Thiago has been absolutely sensational. This pass [30 mins, pass to Salah]. He has been a joy to watch so far in this game. Him and Salah, they’re right at the top of their game,” Neville said during commentary, on Thiago.

Neville on Thiago: Liverpool star was a class above United midfield

Miles above. An absolute gulf of class. Thiago was the best player in the first half, an enormity between himself and any Manchester United player. He made Nemanja Matic look like an academy kid just coming through.

With the defensive platform of Fabinho and the workaholic Jordan Henderson alongside him, Thiago was pulling out all the turns, the passes, the flicks, the flair. An inch-perfect display from the Spain international.
