Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports that he was hugely impressed by Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool won 2-1 against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Mohamed Salah was the star of the show for the Merseyside club.

The Egypt international forward scored both the goals for Liverpool in the Premier League game on Sunday.

Former Manchester United defender Neville was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.

And he was impressed by how Robertson was on top of Tottenham right from the start.

Gary Neville on Andy Robertson for Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur

Neville said: “I thought straightaway Robertson had seen the game. You talk about players smelling the fixture, smelling the game.

“Generally today, credit to Robertson, he smelt where the game was from the very first minute, and I thought he is clever, he is a smart full-back. Not just a great full-back, but a smart full-back.”

Impressive

In our view, Andy Robertson is one of best left-backs in the world and is an important player for Liverpool.

The Scotland international has not always been at his best this season, just like Liverpool as a whole, but he stepped up his game against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool were the better and the more attacking team in North London on Sunday.

And Robertson played his role, both defensively and in attack.
