Manchester United lost to Watford, much to the amusement of Liverpool.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba in action
Manchester United were this summer’s big spenders, and began the season in superb form.
Their three early wins have quickly proved a false dawn, with the Red Devils recording three straight defeats, against Manchester City and Watford in the Premier League and Feyenoord in the Europa League.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba clashes with Watford’s Troy Deeney
Their defeat to Watford on Sunday prompted amusement for rivals Liverpool, as their official Twitter account took the chance to poke fun at a Manchester United blog which had taken a jab at them earlier in the weekend.
It is likely only to have pleased Liverpool further, to see that their one word tweet seemed to really irk old foe and former United captain Gary Neville.
Neville reacted on Twitter with a series of tweets, showing his displeasure…
Neville also reached out to former rival and Sky Sports colleague Jamie Carragher to ask jokingly if he was behind the message.
Carragher naturally denied it, but also showed no mercy for Neville’s United by bringing up Watford striker Troy Deeney, who netted in the weekend clash.
A bad day for United, and Neville… well and truly rattled.
