Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a transfer move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves.

Neves has led Wolves to promotion this season after his shock switch from Porto last year where he was playing Champions League football.

The Mirror report Neves is high on Mauricio Pochettino’s shopping list for this summer.

Neves is regarded as one of European football’s brightest talents and his reputation has been enhanced by his season at Wolves, where he created plenty of highlights with his spectacular long range goals.

If Tottenham sign the 21-year-old, they would be buying a player with the capability to dominate and dictate games for the next decade.

Neves could end up becoming Mauricio Pochettino’s best ever signing, which is really saying something because of the £5 million swoop for Dele Alli.

The Wolves ace would be far more expensive, but this is where the challenge is for Tottenham.

Chairman Daniel Levy will have to be at his negotiating best to convince Wolves to sell their star man.

Liverpool hover…

Jurgen Klopp, Manager of Liverpool looks on during a training session on April 9, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Why would Wolves sell? Well Molineux was never seen as a long-term destination for Neves, and you could argue he has already fulfilled his role at the club by leading them into the top flight.

FourFourTwo claimed earlier this month that Neves has been negotiating with Liverpool in recent weeks over a summer switch, and suggesting Wolves are lining up Anderson Talisca as a replacement.

This puts Tottenham behind the curve in the race for Neves, with Liverpool already needing a new midfielder to replace outgoing talent Emre Can.

Neves is an emerging superstar who deserves to have top teams fighting over him, and Tottenham should pull out all the stops to try and bring him in. But it may be that if he does move on, they could already be too late.
