Speaking on the We Are Liverpool Podcast, James Milner has been discussing his affiliation towards Liverpool and his boyhood support of Leeds United.

The midfielder made his name early in his career at Leeds, but now, after years of brilliant service, he’s quickly establishing himself as a legend at Anfield.

To say that Milner has loved his time at Liverpool would be an understatement, and despite his love for Leeds United, he now says that half of his heart is now red due to how much he loves Liverpool.

Milner adores the Reds

The veteran midfielder spoke about how much he loves his current club.

“It’s been a long journey. Before I got to Liverpool I was at Leeds from 10 to 18, but Liverpool is seen as my club. I said at the end of last year, I’m always Leeds through and through, but I never thought I’d say that at least half of me is red now. Which is ridiculous because I wasn’t allowed to wear red growing up because of Man United. That is what the club does to you,” Milner said.

Easy to fall in love

Milner has always stated how much he adores Leeds United, but now it seems as though the Reds have won a special place in his heart as well.

To be honest, it’s difficult to not fall in love with Liverpool when you play at Anfield.

The club is just so special and unique. The fans are unlike any others in the world and those European nights at Anfield are, quite literally, unrivalled.

Milner may be born in Leeds, but his best memories may well be at Liverpool.
