Everton fans on Twitter aren’t too fussed that their reported target Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has joined Tottenham.

Spurs announced on Tuesday on Twitter that Hojbjerg is their new number five after he made a switch from fellow Premier League side Southampton.

The Liverpool Echo reported last month that Everton wanted the midfielder but he made it clear that he wanted to join Spurs.

Everton fans have stated that they feel they have dodged a bullet with this Hojbjerg situation.

There’s no doubt that Carlo Ancelotti, just like Jose Mourinho, needs more quality and depth to their squads if they are to compete next season.

Both endured pretty miserable campaigns all round, but Mourinho’s men did enough towards the end to secure Europa League football.

If Hojbjerg, who is 25 and still yet to hit his peak, proves to be more than a worthy signing for Spurs then Everton will be kicking themselves down the line.

But equally, they will feel pretty relieved if it doesn’t work out for the Danish player, who is perhaps best suited to playing the number 8 role.
