What a few days it has been for two Arsenal and Aston Villa goalkeepers.
On Tuesday night, Bernd Leno had a brain freeze and handled the ball outside of the area as Arsenal were beaten at Wolves.
Last night, Emiliano Martinez, who has been outstanding all season for Villa, was at fault for two of the goals they conceded during their 3-1 defeat against West Ham.
It sets it up nicely, doesn’t it for Arsenal’s visit to Villa Park at the weekend?
Even though Martinez was at fault for yesterday’s goals, some Arsenal fans think he will now end up producing the goods on Saturday.
Whilst others joked about both Leno and Martinez producing howlers 24 hours after the other.
Well, Leno won’t be able to take to the field at the weekend and make up for his mistake at Molineux, but Martinez will.
It will be interesting to see how he reacts and whether his former club will look to target the £17 million shot-stopper (BBC Sport) early on to test his confidence.
On paper, Martinez has been one of the top keepers in the league this season, with ten clean sheets to his name, but he just had to produce his worst ahead of Arsenal’s visit.
