Tottenham are reportedly planning a replacement for Antonio Conte with the Spurs boss potentially leaving next summer and Diego Simeone is a target – a manager that Kieran Trippier loves, labelling him as “unbelievable”.
Conte, 53, is out of contract at the end of the season. There is plenty of talks regarding the Italian’s future, given he is a manager that is renowned for his short-term stay at clubs. Unless he is backed, he will depart for a new side.
Spurs have an option to extend his contract by 12 months. But it is likely they will pursue an entirely new long-term deal. However, CMW say that Conte is planning on leaving for good at the end of the season, with Juventus keen.
Indeed, Spurs are planning for this eventuality. They are targeting Atletico Madrid boss Simeone, who is just four games away from clocking up a huge 600 as Atletico boss. Trippier is a fan, after winning La Liga under Simeone.
Trippier told the Guardian in 2020, while at Atleti: “I’ve been here seven months. I’ve never seen anything like it, to be honest. Starting from Diego Simeone – everyone feeds off him – he’s an unbelievable manager.”

Simeone a Tottenham target: Trippier loves unbelievable manager
Simeone is a manager that has enjoyed wonderful success in his time at Atletico Madrid. Widely known as the best-paid boss in world football, with his contract worth more than £700,000 a week, he has won La Liga twice.
However, his long-term future at Atletico Madrid is also in doubt. His contract with the Spanish giants is due to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season. The chances of him extending his current deal looks incredibly unlikely.
Whether Spurs would want his defensive, pragmatic style of play remains to be seen. But Simeone is one of the best managers in the world. Trippier’s comments show that he is worth considering if Conte does not sign on.
