‘Never say never’: Napoli president opens up on Arsenal target Victor Osimhen’s future

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said that he has confident that his side will keep hold of Arsenal-linked striker Victor Osimhen.

Recently, it was reported that Manchester United were readying a whopping £107 million bid to sign the Nigerian international, who Mikel Arteta’s side have been looking at. With the Gunners being one of Europe’s most in-form sides, a transfer was not ruled out by many.

However, it seems that even if Arsenal aim to go all in to sign Victor Osimhen, a transfer seems unlikely, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis assuring that an exit is not on the cards.

While Rafael Benitez compared the ‘devastating’ finisher to Fernando Torres, Jorginho even admitted that he told the club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to sign the in-form striker, after playing against him in the Champions League.

While the Italian must be dreaming of playing alongside Victor Osimhen in an Arsenal shirt, it seems that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has no plans of making that a reality, as per his latest quotes relayed by Fabrizio Romano.

“Kvara [Khvicha Kvaratskhelia] and [Victor] Osimhen? It won’t be difficult to keep our best players, we’re good with contracts, but never say never in case of crazy proposals. I think they will stay for long time.”

While Gabriel Jesus is as complete as they come in terms of his all-round package, his finishing has left a lot to be desired while Eddie Nketiah has looked like a raw prospect once again in recent weeks.

If Arsenal aim to go to the wire in the Premier League title race once again next season, they may have to convince Aurelio De Laurentiis to sell Victor Osimhen with an offer he cannot refuse.

With the 24-year-old ticking a number of boxes asides from being a goalscorer whilst also being merciless in front of goal, he would be an incredible coup for Mikel Arteta and Co.
