Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to comment on the latest development regarding Lionel Messi, after the forward left Barcelona in tears.
What’s the story?
Well, as tweeted by the reliable Fabrizio Romano, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner is heading to Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi has agreed a two-year contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and will arrive in Paris within the next few hours.
PSG have an option to extend the two-year contract by an extra year until June 2024.
Messi will earn €35m-a-year (£29.6m) at the Parc des Princes, which equates to a mind-boggling £569,230-a-week.
In truth, we feel only PSG or Manchester City could’ve afforded to take the 34-year-old, after his emotional departure from the Camp Nou.
How did Gary Lineker react to this Lionel Messi update?

Writing from his personal Twitter account, Lineker offered sarcasm after finding out that Messi had agreed to join PSG.
You can see the BBC Match of the Day pundit’s tweet in full below.
Much has been made about Messi joining PSG ever since the huge news broke about his exit from Barcelona.
As a result, it doesn’t seem as if Lineker is too surprised to hear about the 151-cap Argentina international’s next destination.

With Neymar and Kylian Mbappé already in the French capital, Pochettino has one of the best squads world football has ever seen at his disposal.
We can’t speak for others, but we’re incredibly excited to see how the trio gel in Paris – the rest of Europe better watch out.
