Jeremy Doku may be loving life at Anderlecht but his father has refused to rule out a move away from the Belgian giants – with Liverpool casting their eyes once again over an exciting young winger – while speaking to Het Nieuwsblad.

With football in the midst of a financial crisis of almost unprecedented proportions, Reds fans everywhere should not hold their breath if they are dreaming of a Kylian Mbappe, a Timo Werner or a Jadon Sancho this summer.

Instead, they might have to make do with a Belgian U21 international who turned them down two years ago in favour of extending his stay at Anderlecht.

Doku might still be a teenager with a handful of first-team appearances to his name but, in Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have a coach who knows a potential future superstar when he sees one.

And the Champions League winning manager feels that there are more than a few similarities between Doku and a certain Sadio Mane.

It remains to be seen whether Doku is ready to challenge Mane for a place in Klopp’s plans, two years after he spurned the advances of a Merseyside giant.

“A transfer? That’s a difficult question, isn’t it. He feels great at Anderlecht, but you can never rule it out,” the winger’s father, David, tells Het Nieuwsblad.

The same publication recently suggested that Liverpool were set to renew their interest in a man who has been honing his talents under Vincent Kompany back home in Belgium.

Anderlecht were hoping to raise around £17 million but a reduced price-tag may be on the cards with the transfer market shrinking by the day.
