Tony Pulis has aimed a sly dig at Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Sky Sports (26/09/20 at 2:50 pm) for ‘not mentioning the money’ after he recently signed a new contract at the club.

After months and months of speculation, Aubameyang finally put pen-to-paper on a new three-year deal at the club, which is worth in the region of £250,000k-a-week, according to the Independent.

But former Premier League boss, Pulis, was pretty blunt in his response after he heard Aubameyang thanking and stating the big part Arsenal fans played in his decision to extend his stay.

“Just on the Arsenal player who just signed a contract,” Pulis told Sky Sports. “He never mentioned the money he was getting.

“He mentioned the supporters and the support he was getting. Never mentioned the money. Why don’t players ever say that the club have really pushed the boat out and given me the money I think I deserve?”

Aubameyang, who moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2018 for £56 million [Evening Standard] has become a very popular figure in North London and it is mainly down to the goals he has consistently scored whilst they have struggled.

Last season, Arsenal were perhaps at the lowest point they have been towards the end of Unai Emery’s reign.

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

But added with Mikel Arteta’s tactics and mood lift, Aubameyang dragged them over the line with his crucial goals, including on their way to lifting yet another FA Cup.

Many have asked and wondered where they would have been without his talents, but that question will always remain unanswered because they now have secured his services for the long-term.
