Rodrigo Moreno has left the door open to a potential transfer away from Leeds United just two years on from his club-record arrival, while speaking with the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The Whites spent big to make the Spaniard their marquee signing upon returning to the Premier League in 2020. Marcelo Bielsa and director of football Victor Orta agreed to pay Valencia £26m. They also handed the forward a four-year contract worth £57.5k-a-week.
But Rodrigo is yet to prove himself as an instrumental presence at Elland Road, either at striker or in behind. The 31-year-old has amassed just 12 goals and three assists over 54 appearances across all competitions. He has also only started 39 of his outings to date.

Jesse Marsch believes in what Rodrigo can offer Leeds after the American replaced Bielsa at the helm last month. The 27-cap Spain star left an instant impression on his new coach, who lauded the ‘intelligent’ attacker. He has also added Rodrigo to the leadership council.
Rodrigo has so far repaid Marsch’s support with two goals in four games to help claim wins over Norwich City and Wolves. He scored the Whites’ opening effort to beat the Canaries 2-1 and their equalising hit during a 3-2 result at Molineux before the international break.
Rodrigo leaves Leeds United exit door open with ‘you never know’ remark
But while Rodrigo is ‘really happy’ at Elland Road and plans on staying in West Yorkshire, the forward has left the door open to a possible transfer from Leeds in the summer sales.
“The future, you never know, but my idea is to stay here,” Rodrigo said. “I’m really happy with the club, my family are really happy living here in England, my daughter and my wife. I feel an important part of this club, my teammates made me feel like this, everyone who works for the club. I think I’ve created a really good relationship with everyone here.

“You never know what’s going to happen. Of course, when the summer comes, everyone is going away, everyone is coming in, we don’t have games, so we have to keep speaking about something and I understand that’s part of football, as well. I accept this.
“But if you’re asking me, I’m really happy here. I just want to finish the season well, that’s the most important part. Everyone is focused on that, no one is thinking about what’s going to happen in the summer or even in two weeks.”
Marsch will be grateful for Rodrigo’s goals in Leeds’ wins over Norwich and Wolves as the Whites battle relegation. They now sit seven points clear of the drop zone, but have played once more than Watford in 18th. So, he will also hope his form continues over the run-in.
