Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts have reacted on Instagram after James Maddison won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for September.
Leicester City’s playmaker picked up the gong for his long-range strike against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Maddison shared his delight on Instagram after he picked up the award by stating his first Goal of the Month award is ‘really nice for the mantelpiece’.
In the comments section, Grealish, who is good friends with the Leicester star, simply commented by saying: ‘Never in doubt’. Whilst Leeds forward, Roberts replied: ‘Tek man’ added with a fire emoji.
Maddison beat the likes of Jack Harrison, Mo Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the award.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if an Aston Villa player does feature in October’s Goal of the Month award because Ollie Watkins did score a stunning goal against Liverpool during his side’s 7-2 thrashing of the champions last time out.
Watkins second strike, where he was fed an over the top the ball by Grealish, resulted in Villa’s record signing running into the penalty area from his own half, cutting inside on his right foot before dispatching the ball into the back of the net.
Given the way both Villa and Leeds have started the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if their players feature in October’s list because the way things are going, they are both scoring for fun and netting some top-quality goals.
