Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has told BeIN Sports that he was stunned by Curtis’ Jones injury on Tuesday evening.
Jones ruled out
Jones was participating in a training session in the build up to Liverpool’s game against Atletico Madrid, when he caught a finger to the eye.
The damage has been so severe that Jones has been told to rest for a week, with his vision affected by the incident.
And although Klopp says that the Liverpool youngster will make a full recovery, he admits that the injury did shock him as he has never seen anything like it before.
“Last night in the last session, Curtis got a finger in his eye and it’s scratched a little bit,” Klopp said.
“He can’t see out of that eye at the moment, he needs to lay down for a week!
“You learn a lot about what can happen to human beings when you’re a football manager.
“I’ve never had something like that. He will be fine, but he needs a while.”

Momentum disrupted
The injury for Jones has come at a rather frustrating time for the 20-year-old.
Klopp had started him in Liverpool’s last two Premier League matches, but his place is now up for grabs.
The Reds boss opted to hand Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a starting chance last night and he certainly grabbed it.
Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed in the heart of Liverpool’s midfield as they picked up a 2-0 win over Atleti, and it may be that he is given the nod again against West Ham United at the weekend, with Jones still resting.
