The Spaniard put on a real show against the Magpies. Running the show from the midfield and rarely, if ever, losing the ball.
Thiago was subbed in the 77th minute, but that didn’t stop Steve McManaman awarding him the Man of the Match on BT Sport.
Perhaps the Spaniard’s showing was best summed up by the lovely cushioned touch that teed up Trent Alexander-Arnold for a long-range volley that went just wide.
Liverpool were poor late in the game after Thiago went off, hence the Magpies’ late equaliser, but their top-four hopes aren’t quite over yet.
If Thiago plays like this every week, the Reds may have a real chance of nicking a Champions League spot in these final weeks of the season.
The Reds certainly need to improve, but the Spaniard is one player who has been leading by example.
