Jamie Carragher has ruled out Jose Mourinho ever becoming manager of Arsenal or any other Premier League side on Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur yesterday morning, after a tumultuous spell in North London.

The Portuguese boss has previously been one of the finest managers ever in the Premier League, but it is no longer clear whether any of the top sides in the league would take him.

Indeed, Carragher says that he simply couldn’t see Mourinho ever going to the Emirates Stadium and replacing Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

And the pundit also doesn’t believe Liverpool or Manchester City would consider him.

“I don’t see Mourinho back in the Premier League,” Carragher admitted.

“That ship has sailed now. I struggle to think of any club who would sort of take him. He’s been at Spurs, so he’s never going to go to Arsenal.

“He’s been at United, he’s never going to go to City. Liverpool wouldn’t have him.

“But would Jose go to a middle of the table club? I don’t see Jose there. I think it’s ether international football or maybe going back to the Italian league.”

Mourinho has previously made some fairly disparaging remarks about Arsenal, which may have harmed his chances of getting that job, even before his move to Tottenham.

Arsenal also seem to be placing their faith firmly in Arteta at the moment, despite a rather disappointing campaign on the Premier League front.

Mourinho has now struggled in his last two Premier League jobs – at Manchester United and Tottenham – leading to question marks forming over whether he can still claim to be an elite level manager.
