After going from the bottom half of the Championship to ninth in the Premier League in three short years, playing some of the most exciting, front-foot football in the country along the way, Leeds United supporters tend to see things through rose-tinted spectacles these days.
Even reports suggesting that Conor Gallagher has rejected a move to Elland Road in favour of Crystal Palace have been met with a sense of positivity.
According to TEAMtalk, the England U21 international had received a tour of Thorp Arch before agreeing a move to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
But following a dramatic U-turn, Gallagher will be staying in London instead, closing in on a deal that will see him join Crystal Palace from Chelsea for the 2021/22 campaign.
Gallagher, however, would have only ever been a short-term solution; a quick fix, a footballing sticking plaster.
Chelsea have high hopes for the Stamford Bridge academy graduate. Palace are in dreamland if they think they have got a chance of securing the midfielder’s signature on a permanent basis once his short-term spell at Selhurst Park comes to an end.

In any case, Leeds supporters were never really sold on the idea of falling giddily in love with a loan player, only to bid a heart-wrenching farewell some 12 months later.
They have been through all that already with Ben White.
And if that Gallagher snub forces Leeds to go all-out for a permanent addition instead – the £13 million Jens Cajuste appears to have emerged as Bielsa’s top target – all the better.
