Asmir Begovic and Artur Boruc would not have been overly enamored with their performances.

It was a wet and windy day down on the South Coast but there was no repeat of an Asmir Begovic wondergoal.

Instead it was Rickie Lambert giving Southampton the lead. A free kick from the left was quickly taken on by the England international – who whipped in a fantastic free-kick to the far post to give Saints a 1-0 lead.

However, out of nowhere Stoke bagged an equaliser.

Charlie Adam played a great ball through into the path of Peter Odemwingie, who happily slotted away his first goal for the Potters.

They were only level for minutes however – after a bizarre goal from the home side.

Steven Davis took the ball from a throw-in before swinging in a left footed cross, which evaded everyone, and crept past the rooted Begovic for Stoke.

But the keeper errors were levelled not long after.

Artur Boruc did not look confident from a whipped in corner – and former Saint Peter Crouch bundled over from a yard out.

Southampton pushed for a winner – but to no avail.
