Gary Lineker has sent his congratulations to Leeds United on winning promotion back to the Premier League.

It’s been a long wait, but Leeds are finally back in the big time following a 16-year absence.

West Bromwich Albion’s defeat away to Huddersfield Town on Friday night confirmed that the Whites couldn’t finish any lower than second in the Championship this season.

To make things even better, Brentford’s defeat away to Stoke City today saw Leeds crowned champions of the second tier to cap a quite brilliant 24 hours for the Elland Road club.

Given their history and support, Leeds are very often described as the sleeping giant of English football, which a lot of people will be reminded about next term.

And Lineker, host of BBC’s Match of the Day, said on Twitter that he can’t wait to introduce their games in the Premier League next season.
