West Ham manager Pellegrini has compared Wilshere to former AC Milan and Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo, as quoted by The Daily Mail.
Pellegrini told The Daily Mail: “A lot of you will remember Juventus around four or five years ago played with one holding midfielder. It was Pirlo. Pirlo’s the same as Jack.”
Wilshere joined the Hammers in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League rivals Arsenal at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old England international midfielder has played in both of West Ham’s Premier League matches so far this season.
Pirlo is one of the greatest footballers of all time and is a true legend of the game, having won Serie A and the Champions League with Milan, the Scudetto with Juventus, and the World Cup in 2006 with Italy.
Wilshere is a very good footballer, but the Englishman’s career has been affected by injuries over the years.
