Former Dutch international Willem van Hanegem has hailed the quality of Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen.

Willem van Hanegem has told Voetbal International that Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen is the best player in the current Netherlands national team.

Janssen had been plying his trade for little known Almere City in the Eerste Division just two years ago and the Dutchman now finds himself at one of the most high profile clubs around Europe in Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old’s meteoric rise in such a short space of time has been nothing short of sensational and given the attacker’s young age, one can only imagine what he will be able to achieve in the coming years.

Janssen is slowly making his mark at Tottenham but he is already the main striker for the Netherlands national team at the moment and he will have a big role to play if the Oranje are to earn qualification into the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Netherlands will be starting off their qualification campaign against Sweden on Tuesday night and Janssen is fully expected to be leading the line for the Dutch side.

Legendary midfielder Willem van Hanegem has now gone on to speak regarding Janssen ahead of the clash against Sweden and the 72-year-old has made a huge claim that the Tottenham star is the best player in the current Netherlands team.

Speaking to Voetbal International, van Hanegem said, “He is currently by far the best player in the Dutch national team.

“The guy is physically good, always moving and he has an eye for his teammates. He will not believe four years ago he was only with Almere City FC after Feyenoord told him that he would not make it in the top league.”
