Neil Warnock says Sunderland a good option for Joe Hart

Talksport co-host Neil Warnock has put forward Sunderland as a possible destination for Manchester City outcast, Joe Hart.

Mackems boss David Moyes admitted at Friday’s press conference he is “definitely” looking to sign a new goalkeeper ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline, after Vito Mannone was ruled out for three months.

Hart, meanwhile, has appeared once for City this season and looks to have been replaced by Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo, who signed a four-year deal at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday.

Merseyside pair Everton and Liverpool have been strongly linked with moves for Hart, but Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has claimed his side have “no interest” in signing the 29-year-old, while the Reds will have Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius competing for a place once the latter returns from injury.

And during a discussion about Mannone on Friday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show, Warnock suggested the Stadium of Light as a potential sanctuary for Hart this season.

“What about (Sunderland) with Joe Hart… if nothing (else) happens?” pondered the former Crystal Palace manager. “He’s got to go somewhere to play.

“I know it doesn’t sound fantastic when you’ve been at Man City and you could go to Liverpool, to go to Sunderland, but it’s a good club.

“If it doesn’t affect his pride, I think that would be a cracker for Sunderland, me.”

Hart, who has been England’s number one at the last three international tournaments, has spent the past 10 years at City, winning the Premier League and League Cup twice apiece, following FA Cup success in 2011.
