Neil Warnock has claimed that Everton’s struggling January signing, Dele Alli, would be ‘one hell of a player’ at Liverpool.

The recently-retired English manager added that he ‘feels sorry’ for Alli because he doesn’t think Everton are capable of playing to the attacking midfielder’s strengths.

When the 26-year-old moved to Goodison Park from Tottenham, it was to change his faltering career.

But if anything, the 37-cap England international has gone backwards since that January transfer and he is heading down the road of being a flop on Merseyside.

Despite that, Warnock is taking the side of Alli and shared that he would transform at a club like Liverpool, as he told Sky Sports News (09/04/22 at 12:35 pm).

“When I look at Dele, I feel sorry for him,” said Warnock. “Everton aren’t a team good enough or strong enough to give him the ball in the right areas.

“You play him off Calvert-Lewin. Play him off the striker and give him the ball in them areas. But they don’t do that. They are under the cosh all the time. They pass it in silly areas and don’t play them balls into feet and get runners, which he is good at.

“I think if you put him into Liverpool or Man City’s team, then you would get a hell of a player out of him.”

The fact that Frank Lampard, who brought Alli to Everton, hasn’t started him at all just says it all.

During their last four matches, when they have suffered some serious defeats, he still hasn’t even come off the bench.

There were recent suggestions that the Toffees could already get rid of the player in the summer, which would be a slap in the face of the player.

If Alli hasn’t had a wake-up call to what is happening to his career, then he never will.
