Neil Warnock has told TalkSPORT (Friday, 9.45AM) that Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli is much more consistent than Manchester United attacker Antony – with the latter struggling since his £85million move to Old Trafford from Ajax.
Another poor display from £200k a week Antony on Wednesday saw him hauled off against Nottingham Forest. With the score at 0-0, Antony’s removal saw United go on to win 2-0. He simply has not proved his worth at United.
Martinelli has had a in 10 goals in 27 games this season – and 41 involvements in his 111 Arsenal games. He has now signed a new deal at Arsenal. Meanwhile, Antony has managed just five goals in 22 games since his move from Ajax.
The issue with Antony, is that he cost £85m. If he cost the £6m Arsenal spent to sign Martinelli, then the criticism on Antony would be nothing of the sort he is getting. Warnock says Martinelli is a lot more consistent than Antony.

“Martinelli is the kind of player that I’d pay to watch. He’s so exciting, he runs at players, goes past players. Antony is a flash in the pan, Martinelli has that consistency. He is constantly an 8 or a 9/10,” Warnock said on TalkSPORT.
Warnock: Arsenal star Martinelli more consistent than United’s Antony
What Antony does have, is time on his side. He is still only 22 and it must be remembered that it is only his first season at Old Trafford. There is plenty of time and scope to improve, especially under the guidance of Erik ten Hag.
Comparing him with Martinelli, though, is understandable. While Martinelli has been in England for a longer time than Antony, they are of the same age. Antony will be annoyed with his form and criticism of him is more than fair.
