Neil Warnock says achieving his record-breaking eighth promotion this season will not be impossible despite Cardiff currently sitting in 23rd place, in a press conference reported by Wales Online.

The Sheffield-born boss replaced Paul Trollope as Cardiff boss this week after a shocking start to the season with just two wins in 11 games.

The Bluebirds are currently 12 points behind the top six and 15 from the top two but Warnock still insists it won’t be impossible to get the club back into the Premier League.

Warnock today hosted his first press conference as Bluebirds’ boss and he matched the expectations of supporters by refusing to rule out a promotion campaign.

Discussing this season’s aspirations, Warnock is quoted as saying by Wales Online: “I’m looking for a job that can give me my eighth promotion. It’s not impossible here, but it’s difficult when you’re second from bottom.”

Warnock also went on to talk about his philosophy. He added: “I’ve really missed the dressing room banter, and the people – I like to involve everybody.

“Clubs I go to, I try to get to know the cleaner and the cook, everybody. I met the chef and cook yesterday, and stadium staff. I want to get everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.

“You’ve got to be good enough to do the job. I’ve been disappointed when I’ve seen the appointments this year. Fans, I know, will get behind me.

“I come in with an open book really. I know Paul Trollope, he played for me, I know he’ll try his hardest but not spoken to him yet. You need to wipe the slate clean and come in and do your own thing. Give everyone a clean bill of health.”

The veteran boss then discussed his first game in charge, against Bristol City, live on Sky next Friday evening. He said: “I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I’ve had a lot of time for Bristol in the last few years, they’re on the right lines now.

“Sign someone for free who gets 11 goals, sell someone for £14m. My lads will be ready for it after another week’s training”.
