Cardiff City boss says Leeds United’s achievements have been better than Wolves.
Cardiff City face a testing week at the Championship summit as they take on Leeds United and Derby County.
The Bluebirds are locked level at the top of the table on 20 points with Leeds, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with all three teams winning this weekend.
Cardiff boss Neil Warnock has turned the team around since he took over last year, but is wary of their competitors.
Ahead of the midweek game against Leeds, Warnock says he believes his former club’s achievements so far this campaign are more impressive than Wolves, and explained his reasoning.
Warnock told The Mail: “Leeds and Wolves have done brilliantly, Leeds probably better because they’ve not spent the money Wolves have.”
Leeds sold top scorer Chris Wood this summer for £15 million and while they have bought in several players, the highest spend on any individual was £3 million.
Even so, Wolves discovered last year just how difficult it can be to knit so many signings together and a new manager, with Walter Zenga fired months into the season.
This time around under Nuno Santo they have hit their stride instantly and the achievement of doing so should not be underestimated, with manager and new signings new to the Championship.
While Leeds visit Cardiff in midweek, Wolves face an equally tricky fixture, heading to a confident Sheffield United side who sit in fourth place just two points back.
