Paul Clement was sacked as the Derby County head coach on Monday.
Former Leeds United manager Neil Warnock suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (February 9) that Derby County should not have sacked Paul Clement.
Clement was sacked as the Derby head coach on Monday evening following a run of disappointing results in the Championship, with academy director Darren Wassall put in charge of the first team for the rest of the season.
“When things aren’t going right, like they haven’t done since Christmas, you know what players are like,” said Warnock. “Players blame everything but themselves. They will have been talking about Paul’s tactics, his selection, and the board will have their own ideas and the media will have their ideas.”
“Everybody thinks it is easier putting somebody else in charge,” added the former Queens Park Rangers boss.
Derby are fifth in the Championship table at the moment with 51 points from 30 matches, and are five points behind leaders Hull City, who have a game in hand.
The Rams will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Milton Keynes Dons at the iPro Stadium in the Championship.
The decision of the Championship club will have come as a disappointment to Clement, who will probably feel that he did relatively well.
The problem is that Derby have a squad strong enough to challenge for a top-two finish in the Championship, but now there is a danger that they could miss out on the playoffs.
