The Bluebirds manager has called on the Villa star to stop trying to get players booked.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has told Jack Grealish to stop trying to get opposing players yellow-carded after Aston Villa beat the Welsh side 3-1 on Saturday, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

Grealish played the full 90 minutes in the victory at Villa Park and won the late penalty which substitute Rudy Gestede converted to put the result beyond doubt.

However, Cardiff manager Warnock was unhappy with the attacking midfielder for what he perceived as repeated attempts to get visiting players booked.

Warnock said, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail: “I think Grealish does well for the penalty. I’m a bit disappointed with Grealish today, trying to get players booked.

“He doesn’t need to do that, he’s a good player. He was saying ‘three, four times, how many more?’ and all that and screaming. I was disappointed with that aspect but that’s young professionals at times, isn’t it?”

In a further report, the Birmingham Mail even claims that Warnock waited in the tunnel to confront Grealish about his behaviour, to which Grealish replied that he was being kicked all game.

Grealish has a point. The midfielder is the most fouled player in the Championship this season by some distance, as the table below shows.

What’s more, he has made fewer appearances than any of the players immediately below him in that list, meaning that he is also fouled more often on average than any other player.

Saturday’s penalty was the third that Grealish has won this season, but it seems as though he may have to get used to being put on the ground all season long as defenders struggle to handle him.
