Neil Warnock has been left perplexed as to why Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko was not booked for his challenge on Cardiff’s Greg Cunningham during the London clubs 3-0 win on New Year’s Day.

Versatile attacker Sissoko started and played the full encounter against the Welsh club as Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son netted all the goals in the first half.

During the first period, Sissoko missed his attempt to win the ball as he caught Cunningham on the shin, with referee Kevin Friend deciding not to punish the Spurs man.

Warnock was left ‘disappointed’ by his decision as he claimed he has ‘seen red given’ for those types of challenges before as Sol Bamba was the only player to have been booked during the game.

After the match, the outspoken Warnock didn’t hold back on his views about the challenge and what should have been done about it.

“I was disappointed that Sissoko didn’t get a booking just before halftime,” Warnock told Sky Sports’ Premier League channel on 01/01/2019 at 7:50 pm.

“I’ve seen red given for that type of tackle [on Cunningham], but not even a yellow. I don’t understand why he’s not got booked. I don’t know me. We don’t seem to get consistency in that respect.”

Former Newcastle United winger Sissoko has started 13 out of his side’s previous 14 league matches, playing both on the right-hand side and as a midfield enforcer.

Over the course of the campaign, the Frenchman is yet to be shown a yellow or red card by the referee as his side move up to second in the Premier League table.

Sissoko could potentially be rested for Spurs’ visit of League Two side Tranmere Rovers on Friday night as they begin their FA Cup campaign.
