Newcastle United currently lead Brighton & Hove Albion by three points at the top of the Championship.
Neil Warnock has told Talksport that Brighton & Hove Albion have the advantage over Newcastle United in one area.
Warnock’s Cardiff City side narrowly lost at Newcastle on Saturday, despite a second-half rally from the Welsh side, allowing the Magpies to maintain their three point hold over second-place Brighton.
And the 67-year-old is not surprised to see Rafa Benitez’s side doing so well, given the resources the Spaniard has at his disposal.
“They’ve got the best squad by a mile, haven’t they?” he told Talksport’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on Thursday. “I think Brighton’s probably a better team at the moment, but they’ve got the best squad.”
Brighton eased to victory at Bristol City, which, combined with Huddersfield’s draw against Birmingham City, saw them open up a five-point lead on the Terriers.
They did so in the absence of key midfielder Anthony Knockaert – a reported summer target for Newcastle – who was mourning the death of his father.
And Brighton’s team spirit shone through on Monday, when their players were pictured with their grieving teammate at the funeral in France.
The Seagulls, who lost 2-0 to Newcastle at St. James’ Park in August, missed out on automatic promotion on goal difference last season and were subsequently beaten by Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off semi-finals.
