The former Leeds boss is happy to see the side doing well.
Leeds United suffered a painful defeat in the Championship yesterday as they went down 2-0 losers to Cardiff City at Elland Road.
Former Leeds boss Neil Warnock masterminded their downfall in a well organised performance from which the Welsh side deserved all three points.
Losing to a Warnock managed side does not please Leeds fans. He did little to win over fans of the club during his spell in charge at Elland Road and he knew he was in for some stick at Elland Road.
Cardiff manager Neil Warnock
But, as reported by the Telegraph and Argus, he had a secret weapon with him to deflect attention from the Leeds fans – Kevin Blackwell.
He is the assistant at Cardiff and a fellow former Leeds boss. He held the role from June 2004 to September 2006, taking the club to a Championship play-off final before struggling with their dwindling finances and leaving.
Warnock explained how he hoped Blackwell would take the hit off of him, and it seemed to work:
“I brought Blacky because I knew he’d get some stick! Whereas I didn’t get any!
“To be fair the crowd was very good with us. It was super today. I know they’ve gone home disappointed but they haven’t got to forget where they’ve come from.”

The former Leeds boss did not however gloat in his old stomping ground. Instead he was humble in his praise of Leeds and the current atmosphere around the club:
“They’ve got a vibrant, young side who had problems they couldn’t solve today but it is an exciting place to be at the minute.
“I’m really pleased for them because the crowd were always waiting for this type of thing to happen and I think it’s finally going to be here.”
Leeds fans will be hoping this is just a minor blip in their sides hunt for promotion back to the Premier League.
Then they may avoid facing Warnock ever again.
