Garry Monk’s contract with Leeds United comes to an end at the end of the season.

Neil Redfearn has told Radio Yorkshire that he expects Leeds co-owner Andrea Radrizzani to recognise the positive work that Garry Monk has done during his time as Whites head coach and hand him a new deal if he completes the full takeover at Elland Road.
Leeds have enjoyed an incredibly promising season in the Championship despite the recent disappointment of falling out of the play-off places, and much of the credit for their performance this year has gone to Monk.
Nevertheless, as things stand, Monk will be on his way out after just one season with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign (via Daily Mail).
But Redfearn has suggested that should Radrizzani successfully buy Massimo Cellino’s share of the club – as he is reportedly in the process of doing (via Mail) – he will be smart enough to keep Monk in charge.

“What he’s done, Garry, he’s come in and he’s put his ideas into place,” he told Radio Yorkshire.
“It’s been a successful season, so this season will be looked at as a building block, they’ve come a long way, but the idea of having a building block is that you build on it, and what you don’t want to do is change too many ideas from the top.
“The consistency needs to be there, so I’m pretty sure that the new guy coming in, if there is the change, that he will think that way to be honest.”

While some supporters are disappointed about the side falling out of the top six at virtually the final hurdle, there is no doubt that Monk has done a much better job than a number of his predecessors and it would therefore be a major gamble to let him go.
As Redfearn suggests, the former Swansea boss appears to be building something special with the Whites. And many supporters would surely like to see Monk given the chance to show how far this current team can go.
